One of my favorite experiences onboard is waking up and opening the drapes. I have phone in hand to memorialize the beginning of the day. Here are the first photos from our visit to Seydisfjordur.

That’s a Viking Ship in the distance
So lucky with this weather

Another lovely breakfast and we were off on a zodiac to explore this beautiful fjord.

We were delighted that Joanne and Scott were on our zodiac

Stunning scenery and I’m not sure why (maybe the time of day?) but amazing reflections in the crystal clear water.

Hopefully you can see the splash in the foreground and the row of seabirds behind the splash. The birds skim along the water surface then dive for fish. Beyond cool.

An important aspect of the Expedition crew’s duties are performing experiments. We tied our zodiac up to the one that Bob was helming and he jumped over to ours to measure the depth of the water.

That’s Casey taking a photo of Bob explaining the experiment
Bob enlisted Timmy to assist…I know, he gets all the fun…whatever.
Just another one of the toys on Endeavor

As we were heading back, the topic of afternoon activities came up. I lamented that the Waterfalls hike was fully booked. Joanne quickly offered me her spot as she was still nursing an injury she incurred on an Ice Cave tour. About 15 of us set out to climb Vestdalsfossar. The blurb on the booking form calls this activity “In Search of Waterfalls”. Well I am here to tell you…we found ‘em…and then some.

It always seems so doable at the beginning of a hike
Some interesting terrain…. …that’s code for: freaking steep and rocky
So that’s Ken the Expedition’s historian doing something I’d be screaming “stop now!” to if he were Timmy…I actually had to turn away.
Every family has one
Don’t worry about me being left behind, I’m actually in the middle of the group

Scott made it to the top way before I did. Lots of spray, lots of wind…tons of exhilaration.

This wild horse made me think about how much Isabel loves her lessons on a white pony named Fiona.

Here’s Timmy with Bruce Pearson. He is Artist in Residence on Endeavor and just the nicest person. Bruce encouraged Tim to revisit a long dormant talent.

Caviar, Champagne, Crab…pretty much heaven.

We topped off the day in the Cove with Joanne and Scott.

We throughly enjoyed the performance by Salvatore Hasard. His act, especially the last piece (where he sings We Are the World…in 24 voices) is Vegas quality.
