July 29,2024 Cotswolds, UK

We woke early (for us) and enjoyed a lovely breakfast …

…First course…cappuccino, chia pudding and a croissant…

…second course…waffles with lemon and syrup…very yummy

After breakfast we repaired to the garden for more coffee and the London Times…hang around long enough and you pick up the lexicon 😊

An absolutely perfick day in this beautiful setting…

.

At 1:00 pm, our driver fetched us and we set off on a one hour scenic drive through the Cotswolds to Stonehenge. When we visited Stonehenge in 2015 we were both struck by…something very hard to describe. There is a feeling that captured me. I felt it in 2015 and again yesterday…a quickening in my chest, almost a vibration. You feel like you are in the presence of something mystical.

As we approached we noticed folks clustered at the entry point…

We began to move away from the other visitors and around the wide circular track surrounding the stones.

We took photos as we circled, appreciating the different shapes .

I just wish we had answers as to why these stones are here

.

Although there are many visitors, it’s easy to distance yourself and just be …

.

I turned around and took a pic of the land behind the stones

..

This is the Heeling stone…some scientists now think that it’s a natural occurrence, original to the site, and prompted the people of the time to begin creating Stonehenge.

.

The pull is so strong…I didn’t want to leave…I’m so grateful that we were able to return and that we had such a beautiful day…Timmy said…”I can’t believe we got to make a once in a lifetime visit…twice!”

We left after about 2 hours and drove through the English country side to Dover.

The clock tower at the harbor greeted us as we approached our hotel.

💙

After we ordered dinner I popped across the street and snapped this pic of the Cliffs. You know…the White Cliffs of Dover.

Our Hotel..The Dover Marina Hotel (Best Western)

I spied Timmy …

Timmy ordered a Rhubarb and Strawberry Gin Cocktail…I had a Mojito

Monkfish and Onion Rings and a Pear and Blue Cheese salad

..

After the brownie we headed off to sleep.
Our visit to Stonehenge was beyond my capacity to describe. I wish I had words to capture the sense of wonder and profound connection we both felt. Anyway, it was wonderful and magical. Thanks for following along. ♥️
