We had so much fun yesterday, luckily (for you) I only have time to give you the Reader’s Digest version. I think I’ve mentioned (every day) how happy it makes me to begin each day with the ducks in the garden. We’ve been so fortunate with the weather…still low 80s and no real humidity. Our cat sitters have been sending pics of Freddie and Fluffy and they mentioned the heat wave on Long Island, so yet another reason to be grateful and happy that we are here in Montreal. Speaking of which – one of the doormen remarked to Timmy that he loves seeing us come and go, because we are so happy and always smiling. Well, let me tell you – if you are not happy in this hotel – there is something seriously wrong.

I do sometimes say to Timmy ”who’s happier – me or you?”

Montreal headquarters of the Hudson Bay Company.

We enjoyed a lovely brunch at Brasserie Henri. Tim was in the mood for an Aperol Spritz, and since I’ve been appreciating different varieties of Rose’ all summer long; I decided to pair my new favorite with the Lobster salad.

Are these two just the cutest?
More faculty housing at McGill University. This housing is located on Peel Street – the street I take to enter Parc Royal.

It must be wonderful to attend a University in this city, especially McGill- the location is perfect- in the heart of Montreal – at the base of Mont Royal.

Student housing …also on Peel Street.
Yes! I hiked to the top of Mont Royal two days in a row.

I most likely will not make the trek again…it’s not the going up…it’s the return that got my knees…some parts of the trail are so steep going down that I wished I was 20 years old – or at the very least 55.

When planning this trip, we decided that as much fun as it would be to attend the “Comedy Fest” and Cirque du Soleil and a myriad of other potentially crowded indoor options – we would try to opt for outdoor activities. So you can imagine my delight when we found that Repercussion Theatre was presenting “Shakespeare in the Park 2022”.
Due to the pandemic, the theatre company had been on hiatus for nearly three years, and this was only the second weekend of this summer’s tour. I was a bit nonplussed when looking at the online calendar, because I did not recognize ”All Shall Be Well” as one of the Bard’s works. Not to worry, Timmy called the box office and Zoe explained that this production is a play influenced by our present circumstances -written during Covid – it’s a quest for connection between words written centuries ago – during a plague, when most of life was also on pause. The author, Amanda Kellock, and wonderful cast wove together several of Shakespeare’s plays – (Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Richard II, Hamlet, King Lear and even Pericles)- in a highly entertaining way.

There goes Timmy – on a mission to rustle up some snacks

It’s a good thing we had a late brunch, because the advertised Food Trucks failed to appear. The weather gods had been predicting thunderstorms, so perhaps that’s why they were no-shows.

Popcorn, crackers, fruit&nuts…our first dinner course.
Practically front row seats.

All’s well that end’s well…and …ALL SHALL BE WELL was a delightful way to spend a Saturday evening.

Thanks for following along. On our agenda for today: Marche’ Jean Talon (the Market) in Little Italy.
