February continued apace with January…long walks on the beach(with some existential ruinations thrown into the wind), volunteering to save our country, yummy lunches on the waterfront, a visit to the circus and truly loving our time in paradise.
Here’s the Reader’s Digest version:
Warm afternoon…water view…drinks with umbrellas …pretty much heaven.
We headed to the circus on a rainy Saturday night. So much fun.
The owner of the circus, Dolly Jacobs, is the daughter of world famous Ringling Brothers clown Lou Jacobs. She gives a brief welcome at every performance.
Every act was special…these horses were a treat.
Trapeze artists were my absolute favorite.
Before we moved here, we were unaware of the link between the city of Sarasota and Ringling Brothers circus. John Ringling built a beautiful home on the bay and Sarasota was the winter home of the circus. Many members of the Flying Wallenda family live in Sarasota and perform at local events. …Anyway the three hours flew by and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously.
Another day, another walk on Siesta beach.
You just never know what the sand artists will create.
Late February found us at Ringling College for a preview of upcoming OLLI classes. Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes are found on the campuses of 125 colleges and universities across the US. OLLIs provide non credit classes, activities and events for old people (well actually folks 50 and older). The Ringling College of Art museum campus was launched in 2019 – it is a beautiful venue and home to OLLI. We are so lucky to have this resource in Sarasota.
These margaritas might not look fancy, but they were delicious.
Fish tacos and sweet potato fries. Marina Jacks.
There’s nothing like heading to the waterfront for a leisurely lunch. We love watching the boats coming and going.
Bayfront Park offers a little bit of everything…sandy beach, playground, splash pad for kiddos, and great art.
So, I love this selfie so much, I made it my fb profile pic🩵
I can’t post to this blog without at least one sunset photo.
I’m content and untroubled walking on this beach. I wish I could explain the phenomenon …it really is inexplicable. I fall into a meditative state and entertain all sorts of thoughts. Lately I’ve been thinking about old age and mortality. My mortality. Sometimes I’m nostalgic for my younger days. I reflect on the choices I’ve made, the turns my life has taken. I wonder how I could possibly be 72 years old…I mean really…how the heck did that happen? 72. Seventy two.
Anyway …it is what it is…and what it is, is pretty near perfick.
Next up? Wait for it….
March in Sarasota.
Thanks for following along…oh, and if you’ve found the answer to “how did old age find Kathie”…please share it. ♥️
