January 16,2025

We fell asleep yesterday around 5:00 pm, fully expecting to awaken between 8:00 and 9:00 and head to dinner at one of the restaurants here at Capella. Well we never woke…at midnight I checked the time and rolled right back to sleep until 3:30 ish, when we both briefly awakened. Timmy pulled his blanket up and returned to sleep, I dozed on and off until 6:30ish when we both were fully awake.

I made us some cappuccinos and we worked on our Wordle and Connections puzzles.

I took another photo of our living room while the coffees were brewing. It really is super. And large.

Breakfast in Fiamma included watermelon juice, more cappuccinos, eggs and pancakes.

We were thrilled to see the sun shining as we walked back to our room…a 70% chance of rain was predicted for this morning.

These pics were taken right outside our front door

♥️

Timmy waiting outside our villa for the golf cart to take us to meet Jamie (our guide) and Cole (our driver) at reception.

We spent a leisurely morning wandering around the National Orchid garden.

.

So many beautiful flowers and trees. I took many, many photos…here are some of my favorites.

🩵 Love the herons 🩵

Every once in a while we came upon a little bit of whimsy.

Jamie is a wonderful guide and wow does she know her orchids.

Singapore commissions the folks at the Orchid garden to create hybrid orchids to honor visiting dignitaries.

.
.

Were you paying attention yesterday? What’s the name of this flower? Hint: it’s not an orchid and there’s another just like it outside our villa at Capella.

.

Timmy asked me to take this photo…he likes the markings.

.

Looks like a piece of art.

Jamie says this is a popular orchid during Lunar New Year

This greenhouse is air conditioned…a welcome respite from the humidity.

.

These are so delicate

We left the Garden and headed to the Civic district.

We came upon this couple outside of city hall.

Victoria Theater and Concert Hall.

Jamie giving some history

Okay, not sure why they’re flashing peace signs…

Timmy asked me to snap this pic…you’ll have to ask him why …

We strolled through Merlion Park and encountered fellow tourists jockeying for phots of the legendary Merlion statue. The lion’s head represents Singa, a mythical figure and the fish body represents Singapore’s beginnings as a fishing village.

.

The Marina Bay Sands complex cost 8 billion to complete…it’s home to more than 2500 rooms and suites, a casino and shopping mall. It’s an iconic landmark and tourist magnet.

.

We were craving some peace, quiet and rest, so we cut our tour short and returned to Capella for lunch.

There is this lovely display as you enter Sentosa island …it’s created in anticipation of the Lunar New Year…the year of the Snake. It sits in the center of a roundabout…Cole made us all dizzy circling the display numerous times so that I could get some decent photos. It was a true challenge because there was lots of traffic and we were moving at a good clip.

Back at the resort, we had a yummy lunch on the patio of Bob’s Bar, overlooking the adult pool.

We ordered some hydration and wrote postcards to the Bugs.

My chicken satay was delicious.

Timmy loved his Blue Pea Flower Nasi Lemak…coconut rice, turmeric chicken, prawn sambal, eggs and something else that escapes me.

Our servers, Neely and Hoon, were delightful.

This little guy keeps showing up.

Back at the room…Timmy’s taking a nap, I’m alternating swimming and updating the blog. We had a ten minute rain shower …cooling things off quite a bit, and now the sun’s out again. Jamie and Cole are going to fetch us in a few hours for more touring …let’s see how our stamina holds. Thanks for following along. ♥️
