Serenity November 15,2023 We arrived in the port of Cozumel shortly before 8:00 am. and having no plans…that became the plan. We began our day as I always want to…on our balcony with coffee and whatever. Here we have our wonderful cruise director, Raphael Derkson, warming up before a performance of The Crystal Showband &...

September 27, 2023 In 2014 we visited the Amalfi coast for the first time. We were in the port of Naples for only one day and our driver fetched us at 7:30 in the morning. Marco crammed so much wonderfulness (I know it’s not a word) into that one day: Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi. Lots...

September 25,2023 We sailed into the port of Olbia, Sardina to blue skies and some cool ferries. We cancelled our winery tour and stayed on board. I’m sorry to have missed Sardinia, but we’ve realized that we just do not have the stamina for day after day touring…and we do love sea days. We slept...

September 24, 2023 We were scheduled to be in Sorrento today sailing around Capri, unsettled weather led our Captain to scrap our overnight in Sorrento …disappointed, but, oh well! We slept in, enjoyed breakfast on the balcony and set off to find a taxi to take us to a pizza restaurant that someone on the...

September 22,2023 So we had a plan for the port of Catania…a drive up to Taormina, a photo op at Castelmola and then lunch at Belmond’s Grand Timeo hotel. Since before Covid, I’ve imagined enjoying a long lunch on the enormous terrace and admiring the view of Mt. Etna. The hotel’s Instagram photos are marketing...

Katakolon is a cool little seaside town in Pyrgos Greece. We met our driver, Marilena, right at the port gate, and headed out for Olympia…archaeological site of the first Olympic Games…776 BC. We left early in search of the Temple of Zeus, Temple of Hera and the stadium. As we drove through small villages, Marilena...

September 19,2023 After breakfast on our balcony, we headed off the ship to meet up with our guide, Darko. The tender ride to shore took about 20 minutes. An advantage of sailing on a small ship like Symphony, is that we can anchor in the harbor at the entrance to Old Town Dubrovnik. We strolled...

September 18, 2023 Our last morning in Venice began with a surprise. As I noted in my previous post, there are pigeons on the property of the hotel…when eating lunch, we were given a water pistol to keep them at bay. All you have to do is lift the colorful pistol, and the bird takes...

Sunday September 18, 2023 Still adjusting to the time change, we slept in and enjoyed breakfast overlooking the lagoon. Cipriani serves breakfast on the terrace until 10:30 and room service all day. Wonderful a la carte selections and an extensive buffet. The sun was in and out as we ate, but thankfully no morning fog....

So life intervenes…we are back home in Sarasota and I have just three weeks to recount our adventures in Portugal…before we set off again on yet another adventure. Yikes. I’ll do my absolute best to post here everyday… Anyway, another yummy breakfast and then we were off for the day to Sintra and the Coast....
