August 14,2024 On board Crystal Symphony
We awoke somewhere in the Baltic Sea enroute to Visby, Sweeden. As you might have guessed, we sleep in. How late do we sleep in? Timmy sets the alarm for 9:00 am and we request coffee and pastries for 9:30…one of the joys of slow travel. Here’s what greeted us as we opened the curtains at 9:14am. Perfection. We lazed around, I spent some time on the treadmill…then we headed to lunch in Marketplace.
Today’s lunch theme is Mediterranean specialties. I love the mini pitas.
Timmy opted to go to Trident Grill for a Ruben sandwich…he claims the Chef talked him into a hot dog too. Really?
After lunch, I spent time on the pool deck reading, in between doing some laundry. Although laundry, dry cleaning and pressing are all included for this sailing…I still prefer to do my own laundry, because I don’t put most of our clothes in the dryer….or I only let them get dry…ish…then pull them out and hang dry. Anyway, it was a very relaxing afternoon.
Then we got fancy for the Captain’s Party…
We lined up for to say hello to the Captain and other officers. Captain Nenad is a lovely person. He began his career with Serenity in 2006, as First Officer. In 2015 he was appointed Captain of Crystal Esprit and then joined Symphony in 2017 as Master Captain.
Our Captain.
These folks were celebrating their 150 Crystal cruise …they still have a way to go to catch up with Tracie at 192🩵 We stayed in the Starlite Club listening to the wonderful Anna Alonso and the Showband…then made our way to the Cove for some Viktor Luzin on the Crystal piano.
So, throwback cocktails…a Cosmo for me and a Screwdriver for Timmy
Okay, stick with me here…I was sitting at dinner and remarked that the table across from me looked cool reflected in the ceiling mirror…Timmy couldn’t quite bend around to see what I meant, so I snapped this photo for him…I’m including it here, because it contains two of our favorite waiters…Hanna and Radomir 😊
Pesto pasta for us both
I think this was some sort of fowl…
After dinner, we spent time on our balcony…enjoying the beautiful weather, half moon and stars. We skipped the “Icons in Concert” show because we’ve seen it 7 (count ‘em 7) times in the past year and didn’t wish to rush dinner. We did however make our way down to the Avenue Saloon…
…I wish I could convey just how marvelous an entertainer Neal Fullerton is…he is freaking wonderful. If you plan to be on Serenity next winter into spring…you are in for a treat. Even if you are old like us, it is so very worth it to nap up in the afternoon so that you can enjoy his late night performances. So another terrific day on board this beautiful ship. Thanks for following along 🩵
