Yes, yes it can♥️

Doormen at Raffles wear uniforms inspired by traditional Cambodian royal attire. A distinctive feature are the silk pantaloons…which change color according to the day of the week. Savy and Song fetched us at 4:00 pm and we set off for Tonlé Sap lake…the largest lake in Southeast Asia.

We drove for about half an hour and Savy explained how the fish in the lake supply over 60% of all protein to Cambodians.

.
.

Once again, we arrived at the port with no expectations …and no clue. All we knew was that we were going on a sunset cruise.

Tourist groups boarding their boats…

…and here is our boat… such a beauty ♥️

…so freaking lucky…we’ve come to learn on this trip that our tour descriptions always undersell the actual tour experience.

As we approached we quickly decided not to clamber up top. Great choice.

.

We settled in for the ride out of the Tonle Sap river, into the lake.

Our hostess is Tin…with an “n”.

Tin had a pretty nice bar and we enjoyed cocktails as we sailed along.

.
.

According to Savy, the folks who live along the river make their living fishing.

.
.

These fast boats are reminiscent of the boats we experienced in Bangkok.

.

Most fish are eaten fresh, fishermen generally limit their catch to what can feed their families.

.
.
.
.

This is essentially dry dock.

.

The folks who live in these floating villages are Cambodian…but with Vietnamese ancestry.

.
.
.

This is the school…it was letting out as we sailed by.

.
.

The thing that gets you…the quiet… the absolute quiet.

.

Those sticks serve as an anchor.

.

We sailed through several villages.

.
.
.
.

I hope these photos convey the peacefulness …

.
.

Of course we took a selfie

Yummy canapés

.

We dropped anchor and drifted as we waited for sunset

.
.

As the sun set, I went out back to take some photos…because lord knows I didn’t have enough.

.
.
.
.
.

Lights came on inside the boat and changed the perspective.

.

What can I say? The most creative selfie yet.

.
.

These are the photos taken on the way back to port…

.
.

We left the river front for dinner.

Lum Orng restaurant is situated in a beautiful garden.
