The less said about our Virgin Atlantic flight, the better. Who wants to revisit unpleasantness? In the interest of full disclosure and to remind ourselves to never book this seating configuration again, I will say the entire experience was less than optimal…
…starting with the amenity bag…”crafted” from recycled cardboard. …And extending to the seats…literally no where to even store my eyeglasses. Timmy referred to the configuration as a dormitory…he’s not wrong. The “bed” was so tiny that my feet were hanging over…Tim didn’t even bother to have the flight attendant make his up.
That’s him across from me at breakfast. The person next to him choose to skip breakfast…good choice.
Anyway, we landed without incident, our driver was waiting and we were off for the Cotswolds.
This is typical of many roadside inns along the way to our hotel…
…and oh what a hotel! The Royal Crescent in Bath, is situated in the middle of the Royal Cresent. The Royal Crescent is a row of thirty houses laid out in an enormous crescent …it was built between 1767 and 1774. It’s 500 feet long and has a storied history. If you ever want to feel like royalty…I suggest you stay here. Upon arrival, we were seated in “reception”, and checkin was quick, efficient and very British.
Our suite …here’s the outer door with our name. #fancy
So yes, this is the living room…kinda large…with a view of the park. I’m loving the windows…like really loving them.
Tim’s signing the suite’s guest book
The suite spans the width of the hotel, so we also have views of the gardens from our bedroom. When we arrived, folks were enjoying tea under the umbrellas.
When I was a child, I wished for a canopy bed…
Meanwhile, back in the living room…
We were in the room for about half an hour, before I spied the lovely fruit bowl and welcome letter♥️…oh and chocolates!
View from the living room.
We were exhausted from not sleeping, so we napped…when I woke up, I explored the gardens and then set off for town.
The Royal Crescent as I headed off…
I was surprised by the relative lack of pedestrians…it is after all a stunningly beautiful Sunday…about 75 degrees.

Nature finds a way
I came upon this cool venue “Bath on the Beach”…mini golf, lawn bowling, tennis, sand and beach chairs…
This is a courtyard flat at the Royal Crescent…
The Royal Crescent…I had to walk quite a distance to try to give a sense of scale
The folks at the hotel recommend Clayton’s Kitchen for dinner…just a 10 minute walk on a perfick evening.

Lamb for Timmy, Risotto verde for me

Back at the ranch…another photo of Reception…it’s the scale that gets me.
So, a beautiful day in the Cotswolds, a gorgeous hotel and a fantastic dinner. Next up…Stonehenge. Thanks for following along. ♥️
