We’d been solving the New York Times “Wordle” game every day, when a few months ago a new word game appeared in my news feed: “Connections”. We tried it, liked it and added it to our morning puzzle routine. I like Connections because it’s usually a greater challenge for me than Wordle or the Washington Posts’s “On the Record” quiz.
So to get back to our “Connections” story…a little backstory for frame of reference: I’m pretty adept when it comes to solving Wordle …and never ask Timmy for help. (It’s the whole competitive Rogers thing) anyway, I had an 84 game streak going until 48 days ago…October 3rd to be exact…when distracted by all the fun we were having on Symphony, I failed to open and solve the Wordle game😟…anyway, it’s a point of pride; I’m pretty good at Wordle…so I solve without assistance… (just so you know…if you miss a day, it counts as failing to solve in the allocated 6 tries, and your beautiful 84 game streak is broken)…
Whatever…getting back to my original train of thought…I do sometimes struggle with “Connections” and will ask Tim for a hint. So on this day I say “Hey, Timmy…no help needed today, in fact I got the purple connection first!” Tim: “Wow Dear, that’s great!…I got the yellow “quick peek” first.”
K: “Quick peek! What quick peek?”
Turns out that since Saturday…we haven’t had the same Connections game … so for months, we’ve each received the same game…past 3 days? Different games…thankfully I haven’t needed any hints…but I wonder if the algorithm “knows” that Timmy needs more of a challenge than I do. (That’s an attempt at sarcasm, btw.) Anyway Tim tried to do an internet search and the only response as to why we are seeing different games – was that we might be in two different time zones. Hmmm, we are clearly not in different time zones. I have a request …check with your people and see if you are also solving different “Connections” games.
Okay, back to the cruise… Today’s Sea Day menu in Marketplace featured the famed Buffet with Asian Specialties, including Peking Duck. 🩵
Kevin McCollum, who produced all three shows on Broadway (Something Rotten, West Side Story revival and Rent) created this production exclusively for Crystal. We had the opportunity to chat with him and his beautiful family on Symphony in September. He is most charming and so passionate about musical theatre.
Another wonderful day on this beautiful ship.
…and Please, if you discover why some folks are receiving different versions of Connections ..let us know. Thanks for following along. 🩵
