Jamie and Koh fetched us at 5:30 pm and we headed off to Gardens by the Bay, a botanical attraction. It’s hard to describe Gardens by the Bay. I hope these photos capture the experience. But before I begin, I need to clarify our driver’s name. Yesterday when Jamie introduced us, we heard her say “Cole”, it was only when she texted Timmy this morning did we realize our error…not “Cole” but “Koh”.
Gardens by the Bay is an urban park housing the Flower Dome…the world’s largest Glass Greenhouse.
We walked through one of the many gardens on our way to the Flower Dome.
This bull reminds us of the iconic Joseph Smith bull at the entrance to Smithtown, IYKYK
Once inside the greenhouse/dome we were grateful for Jamie’s guidance. The space is enormous…but filled with whimsical features, that we might have missed had we been stumbling through on our own.
Pathways serve as ramps, taking you higher into the dome.
As the Lunar New Year approaches, the gardens and the city take on a festive atmosphere.
Throughout the Flower Dome there are a collection of 40 driftwood animals created by James Doran-Webb. Here’s a snake…poised to represent the new year.
This guy would be right at home in SW Florida.
My absolute favorite feature in the entire garden…crafted completely from flowers
I love her so much ♥️
The Dome presents rotating exhibits. The current offering is an immersive Monet experience. Monet is my favorite Impressionist, so this felt serendipitous. The exhibit was very cool.
The immersive experience lasts about 20 minutes and involves changing images of Monet’s works and other visual delights. Cushions are provided for visitors to relax on and enjoy the experience. We were afraid we wouldn’t be able to get up if we sat down. Well, I’m pretty sure Jamie could have helped me up…then we both could have wrestled Timmy up, but it wouldn’t have been graceful.
… the scale and beauty of this place really is quite something
The world’s largest man made waterfall.
IYKYK
After a while we made our way to the Cloud Forest. We ascended to the top via elevator, then we wound our way down the mountain on a circular path…crossing under the waterfall multiple times.
So in this photo I’m leaning out to try to capture just how high we are up into the dome.
Those tiny objects are people on the walkways below us
Just about at the top…ready to wind our way down
The vertigo is real😊
Back outside the dome, we headed over to witness the Garden Rhapsody… located in the Supertree Grove…where Supertrees light up in a 12 minute display of light and sound.
These Supertrees dominate the landscape…there are 18 of them ranging in height from 50 feet to 160 feet…they are vertical gardens providing shade and are very, very cool.
The Marina Sands hotel can be glimpsed behind the trees…the rooftop is illuminated in orange.
We enjoyed the light show …then Koh drove us over to Marina Sands for dinner on the 57 floor at C’est la Vie .
Before we entered the restaurant, I popped out onto the rooftop and snapped some pics of folks swimming in the infinity pool.
Fifty seven floors up!
Clouds and wind rolling in.
We checked out both the outdoor and indoor bars.
The C’est la Vie hostess asked if we preferred indoors or outside…after having visited the outdoor bar we opted to avoid the wind and possible incoming storm.
We were seated at the window rail with a spectacular view of Singapore. We’ve dined in some pretty cool venues … dining in C’est la Vie, we felt on top of the world.
Yellowtail tataki.
Mai Tai’s and cucumber salad to start.
Our Sommelier was charming and engaging…I’m sorry I can’t remember his name. He held the table lamp off to the side for this photo.
The entire experience was wonderful – attentive service, great cocktails and wine…and delicious entrees…Timmy loved his lamb chops and my tiger prawns were great.
Many dessert choices…we went old school with ice cream.
One last photo as we left.
Such a wonderful, fun filled day and evening. We arrived back at Capella after 11:00…completely depleted…but in the best meaning of the word.
Thanks for following along♥️
