The port of Civitavecchia is about one hour and twenty minutes from Rome. So because this leg of our cruise is very port intensive and we’ve been to Rome several times for extended visits, we stayed on board, slept in and pretty much loafed. I walked deck 7 for an hour and took these photos....

Another lovely breakfast on the balcony…there is a trend here. We had a pretty nice view of an Azamara ship, and enjoyed watching the tender boats going back and forth to Sorrento. Vesuvius is on the left in the early morning mist. We arrived on deck 4 to take the tender boat to Sorrento....

We were disappointed that our Port visit to Catania was cancelled due to high winds. We’d booked a tour via Viator (the tour consolidator) that included a visit to Etna and lunch and wine tasting at a winery. Tim was in contact with our guide…he too was disappointed. We’ve encountered this several times during our travels. I need to remember this because we like to check in early and wait in either the airlines’ lounge or one of...

We are sad to be leaving Portugal and this wonderful hotel. From the moment that Daniel warmly greeted us at the entrance and walked us to the Club Lounge where Rodrigo checked us in we felt at home. It’s always a nice touch to see a welcome greeting on the...
